Although it is a great way to send out information to a large number of recipients all at the same time, fax broadcasting should not be abused by individuals or companies.  This is why it is recommended to vendors and individuals that they have a pre-existing relationship with a contact member before adding their fax number or email address to the recipient list of a fax broadcasting session. 

To send unsolicited fax broadcasting letters, soliciting services of a company or goods that they offer, is considered in a number of areas to be spamming.  Depending on the area, spam is either illegal or merely an annoyance to a number of people.  While some individuals or companies might see the short term benefits of fax broadcasting as being able to get their information out quickly, this rarely ends up being a positive move for them. 

Assuming that in the specified area unsolicited fax broadcasting is not illegal, many people will simply scan the fax and discard it.  People generally know what they request to be sent to them and what they do not.  If a person is consistently on a fax broadcasting list, they may begin to grow weary of the company sending the fax. 

As a result, it is not positive word of mouth that will be circulating about the specified company, but negative.  Word will travel about the irritating fax broadcasting techniques of a company.  As a result, the company could lose some of their integrity if not their profits.  Many companies realize that it is best to avoid this type of attention and create legitimate fax broadcasting lists which will generally work to serve them well in the future.
